Back To School Shopping

With back to school slowly approaching I have been thinking about what all the boys will be in need of. I know school supplies, clothes, backpacks, and shoes. But one thing I don't have is a lot of extra cash to spend on all these items. I am so thankful when I come across things like Gap 2012 coupons to help me save some money! I never realized how expensive school was until my own children started attending and I swear the lists they bring home now have so much more on them then we ever needed growing up. I know Bubba's supplies are crazy it seems like we are supplying some of the teachers supplies for them as well.

After I am done buying all their school supplies then it is time to start getting their clothes and shoes. I really do love to shop but sometimes emptying my checkbook for new school clothes and shoes really can put you in a down mood I think. Only because by half way through the school year they have out grown most of the clothes you just bought so they are in need of new ones again. I try to be as frugal as I can when buying the kids stuff and using coupons when I can easily find them.

What do you do to make your money stretch that extra mile when buying school supplies, clothes and shoes? I would love some suggestions...

  1. I shop the year before to save money. Doesn't help much now, but you can gear up for buying clearance stuff after the big back to school season this year.

  2. I shop throughout the year but the best deals on supplies are usually in the 4-6 weeks before school starts. Clothing, we buy on clearance at the end of the season for next year at that time! We get some GREAT deals that way! :)

  3. Thanks I may do that if I can get my home organized enough not to lose the stuff :-)

  4. I try to shop consistently during the year with clearance and coupons and then really watch the back to school sales for good deals and stock up! You are right though...so expensive!
