Recently Jake and I went on a overnight getaway to the HideAway Country Inn in Bucyrus, OH. We were very much looking forward to a nice quiet evening away from the kids. Don't get me wrong, we love our kids, but we also love to be able to enjoy just each other as well. I think it's good for all couples to be able to find some time to enjoy each other.
When I made the reservation for our room I also made dinner reservations. Since we went down on a Thursday night, things were pretty calm. As an added treat, they picnic styled our dinners and brought them to our room for no extra charge. So we got to enjoy our dinner while sitting in front of the fireplace in our room.
The food was excellent and the portions were huge!! My pasta dish seemed like it was a never ending bowl and the Steak Jake ordered was huge as shown in the picture above. They also included a wonderful cheesecake style mousse for dessert! The breakfast we were served the next morning was just as good as dinner from the night before! There were two courses to breakfast; for the first one they brought us out a wonderful scone type muffin and yogurt. For the second course we were served eggs benedict topped with asparagus.
Jake and I stayed in the Cherry Suite at the Inn. It was a nice room but chilly since it was in the basement if the Inn and it's still winter in Ohio. So we got to work on our boy scout skills to keep the fire place going to reach the ultimate warmth in the room. They did bring us a extra space heater which helped warm up the room. The room came with complimentary snacks to make smores and popcorn in the fireplace.
The Cherry Suite has some wonderful features like the wood burning fireplace, Jacuzzi tub for two, king-sized bed and a spacious sitting area with a queen-sized sleeper sofa, satellite TV and VCR/DVD available as well. The room also featured a private bath with shower. The Hideaway Inn also supplied wood for the fireplace so you do not need to worry about bringing any with you.
The Hideaway Inn offers a wide variety of add-ons and packages allowing you to customize your stay. We enjoyed the Chocolate Fondue addition to our room. It was a nice and fun added touch. It showcased a crock of Chocolate Fondue with strawberries, pretzels, marshmallows, cherries, graham crackers, and 2 paint brushes for that extra romantic touch. Yes you read that right, paint brushes, and no directions so you get to use your imagination and do as you please with the fondue. There is also a spa at the Inn and you can add on spa packages as well for yourself or as a couple.
Hideaway Country Inn’s suites are great for many different occasions. Whether you are looking for a place to have a wedding, a corporate retreat, celebrating an anniversary, a birthday, other special occasion, or just want to get away from it all for a while, then Hideaway Country Inn would be a great bed & breakfast for you.
The bed & breakfast offers guest rooms in a historic farm house, or guest house accommodations. Each room offers a unique theme and different set of amenities including a bubbling Jacuzzi, cozy fireplace, satellite TV, individual temperature control and WiFi. Though we had a hard time accessing the WiFi in our room with our phones. If I had not taken my laptop with us we would not have been able to check in on the kids until the next day because our phones would not pick up any wifi signal.
Overall we had a nice relaxing getaway from the hustle and bustle of our busy child rearing life.
It looks really "home-ish". I love the idea of s'mores for the fireplace! Glad you had a nice time. And while there wasn't great WIFI, who needs it when you are enjoying each other! ;)
