Local PPG Employees Volunteer to Revitalize Thomas A. Edison Birthplace Museum in Milan, Ohio



WHO:
Nearly 30 PPG employees and paint contractors will be on-site to revitalize and restore the Thomas A. Edison Birthplace Museum in Milan, OHhio, through completion of painting projects and landscaping as part of the PPG COLORFUL COMMUNITIES program.

Twenty third-grade science students from Edison Local School District will be on-site to participate in the Carnegie Science Center's "Great Color Caper", a program that teaches the science of light and color. The PPG Foundation will also present a donation on behalf of its architectural coatings business to the Museum to support its ongoing STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) educational programming for students.


Finally, to close the event and commemorate the restoration of this National Landmark, local Mayor Steve Rockwell will issue a proclamation declaring September 12 as PPF COLORFUL COMMUNITIES Day in Milan, Ohio. Also, Robert Wheeler, great, great grandnephew of Thomas Edison and president of the Museum Board of Trustees, will make a few remarks. 

What:
PPG Colorful Communities program provides employee volunteers, dontaed products, and financial contributions to bring color and vitality to communities where the company operates around the world. The program increases PPG's commitment to invest in communities by adding $10 million support efforts made during a 10-year period.
