Family Thanksgiving in Myrtle Beach 2017

Vacation Myrtle Beach

My family was given the wonderful opportunity to spend our 2017 Thanksgiving in Myrtle Beach at the Crown Reef Resort through Vacation Myrtle Beach. With us being such a large family it is hard to find hotels and resorts that can adequately fit us all in one room. I was very pleased with our Oceanfront Suite at the Crown Reef Resort. The room was very spacious as it had a fully equipped kitchen, 2 queen beds, a sleeper sofa, a Murphy/wall bed, in room-safe and more which made it big and perfect for my big family. Our room also had a balcony that over looked the ocean where we were able to sit and watch dolphins play one day. I liked that they had protective covers on the beds to protect against bed bugs. With so many people coming in and you never know what they bring with them I liked seeing the protective covers.

I would recommend the Crown Reef to any family big or small that is looking for a nice family friendly resort in Myrtle Beach. The staff was extremely nice and helpful anytime we had any issues with our room keys. There are so many different activities available for families staying at Crown Reef including seasonal activities for the kids. They have several on-site dining options including the oceanfront Loco Gecko Beach Shak, a poolside bar (seasonal) and a breakfast buffet. Our family went to breakfast buffet a couple times where Angel met her "best friend" who was our waitress. They also have the Swirl Ice Cream and Sweet Shop where you can get some delicious treats to cool off with.

The kids were easily entertained on the cooler days with the coin-less arcade, even the adults got into all the games and playing. Mr. Anderson would typically take the boys down to the arcade in the evening while I got the younger 3 kids to sleep. They all enjoyed it and earning their tickets to get fun prizes. When it was warmer you could find us spending the day in the water-park. The Crown Reef Water-park has a giant four-story year round water-park that features two giant slides and a kids' play area. I liked that the kids' play area was heated and it was also where the slides ended so I could easily keep a eye on all my kids at the same time. They also offer a array of outdoor pools including the longest oceanfront resort lazy river in Myrtle Beach, several whirlpools and 2 outdoor pools. There is also a indoor heated pool where you could find most families hanging out in the evening.

Crown Reef is a wonderful family resort that is affordable and has a variety of great options to keep everyone in the family busy. I know when I go to plan our next family trip to Myrtle Beach I will be booking it through Vacation Myrtle Beach and at the Crown Reef Resort!

  1. Wow! That looks like an amazing experience! My hubby and I have talked about going to the ocean in South Carolina since we've never been there. This looks like THE place to go. Can you believe I've never experienced a Murphy bed? lol

    1. I didn't sleep on the Murphy bed my oldest did but the boys loved not having to share a bed since there was a Murphy bed and sleeper sofa. The simple joys kids find in stuff, :) I would recommend checking them out if you are planning on going to Myrtle Beach especially if you take the boys with you.

  8. We’ve been to North Carolina, Tennessee, Florida, all around South Carolina, but not in South Carolina. WOW! I did not know what I was missing! Our kids are grown, but we have 15 grandkids. Some are under ten years of age that would love to go on a vacation with me here. I’d like to go for the scenery alone! Thank you for sharing!

  13. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE MYRTLE BEACH, SC! It's literally my "home away from home." I live in Raleigh, NC so Myrtle Beach is only about 3 hours away from here. My family and I have been vacationing here for over 20 years now. I've always thought the Crown Reef was beautiful as a child, especially at night!! Glad you enjoyed it. :)

  19. I have often thought of doing a family vacation with our kids and grandkids but 14 people and 4 hotel rooms always seem to break the budget. This looks like so much fun that I may have to just take the plunge. YOLO!
