*This post will be talking about a woman's menstrual cycle so if you are uncomfortable reading about the subject then I would not read this post.
I have never been a big fan of menstrual pads or tampon products for my menstrual cycles. Pads always caused me to break out in rashes no matter which brand I used and tampons just weirded me out because I really had no idea what I was inserting into myself. I am sure that I am not the only woman weirded out by tampons either. Since I have been trying to go greener with my family I decided I needed to find something else to use for my menstrual cycle other then menstrual pads or tampons. I thought about cloth pads but wasn't to wild about the thought of throwing them in my washer. I was excited when I started to see some of my fellow blogging friends writing about the DivaCup and I was instantly curious about it.
Have you ever…
- co-opted toilet paper from a public washroom as a temporary measure
- planned a vacation around your period
- avoided white pants for that one 'special' week of the month
- done a supplies hand-off with a girlfriend while the dates weren't looking
- cautiously tucked the telltale string into your bikini
- accidentally pulled a mystery object from your purse in front of a curious male audience
- scuttled to the washroom to survey the leak damage after a sudden 'surge'
- clogged your toilet with "flushable" feminine products
- left a party with a jacket tied around your waist...?
I know that I can personally answer YES to almost all the questions listed above how about you? Well I am so happy that I no longer worry about any of the questions above thanks to the DivaCup. The DivaCup is a non-absorbent menstrual cup that simply collects the menstrual flow. It is inserted in the vagina and sits at the lower base of the vaginal canal. It is worn internally, yet because it is soft and smooth, it cannot be felt nor will it leak when inserted properly. When I first inserted the DivaCup I was worried that it would slip out or that I would feel it and neither happened. I really like that the DivaCup can be worn for up to 12 hours before emptying, washing and reinserting for use for another 12 hours. It can be used for light or moderate flows and is emptied more often to accommodate heavy flows. Perfect for overnight use so no worrying about leaking and having to change your bed sheets. I also like that the DivaCup is the most clean and convenient method of feminine hygiene protection. There is No need to touch the flow. It is worn low in the vagina, not near the cervix, so it is easy to remove, and there is No mess!
Do you play sports and are always worried when it's time for your menstrual cycle? The DivaCup ends the hassles with unreliable disposables in endless absorbencies, shapes and styles. It is perfect for all activities – giving you true freedom without the worry, guessing and unreliability that disposable feminine hygiene products pose. The DivaCup’s expert, proprietary, patent-pending features make it comfortable and assures ease of use and reliability. Perfect for traveling, running, biking, hiking, dancing, camping, swimming, diving, scuba, yoga, extreme sports and more...
The DivaCup is also:
Latex-free, BPA-free, plastic-free
No dyes, colors or additives used
Comfortable, reliable
I must say that I rave about the DivaCup to all my friends now that do not know about it! I will not go back to pads or tampons now for my menstrual cycles. I love the freedom the DivaCup has given me from my worrying about my menstrual cycle. I really do recommend this product for any woman who dreads her menstrual cycle coming and all the worrying that comes along with it. Wondering where you can Buy a DivaCup check out their BUY NOW section on their blog to locate a local store by you. Make sure you use their sizing guide to make sure you get the correct size of DivaCup for yourself as well. They offer two sizes for women!
The people at DivaCup have been gracious enough to offer one of my lovely lady followers a DivaCup.

because I have been using instead, but they leak. I think it is because the mouth is so wide, and with the diva cup it will fit the cervix better!

I would really love to try a cup as a more natural alternative to tampons. We use cloth diapers but cloth pads gross me out (I don't like pads in the first place)

ReplyDeleteWe try to go all natural and homemade with most of our everyday stuff. This is something I have been interested in for a while. It would be great to try.

ReplyDeleteI'd love to have a more ecofriendly option for that time of the month.

ReplyDeleteStill haven't had my period since the birth of my daughter, but now that I am cloth diapering, I just feel like this is next extension of switching to natural methods for myself!
ReplyDeleteI have sensitive skin and tampons irritate it as do pads.
ReplyDeleteThe price of feminine products is ridiculous. After my csection on 2 July I plan on getting the mirena.
ReplyDeleteI am also not a fan of pads as they always slip around and I feel gross wearing them. I would also like to not clog up the septic tank with disposable tampons.
I would like to have the diva cup because i often get irritated by the string that hangs off of tampons. I find it to be itchy (with all brands i've tried). I think the diva cup would be an amazing alternative!
ReplyDeleteI am a religious Diva user but I got pregnant obviously didn't need to use one! In that time the 1 year mark passed and I had to throw it away so now I need a new one!
