One thing that I love to do is make homemade gifts for my family and friends! I think it's a great way to get the kids involved and a great way to spend time with family! I also love food so I was super excited when I got the chance to review a new book called " Meals in a Jar". It brings both my loves together of making gifts and food.
I have seen the jars done before for cookies but never for a meal. I love how you can put these jars together and then give them as gifts and the recipient only has to add water to have a wonderful home cooked meal. I think these jars would make great gifts for new moms who don't have the time to cook or are just to tired from all the new adjustments. These meals would be great to take with you on camping trips as well.
I really like the step by step directions that are laid out for each recipe in this book. There are so many wonderful recipes to choose from as well. There are 7 chapters of wonderful recipes you can make into meal jars.
Chapters:
Breakfast Is in the Bag
Soup's On
Primarily Pasta
Ready-Made Main Course
Ready-Made Meal Sidekits
Snacks, Beverages, and Extras
Desserts
Once the weather warms up and my in-laws start planning their camping trips with the boys we plan on making up some of these jars to send with them. I will let the boys go through and pick out some recipes they would like to have while camping and I will have them help make the jars. I also plan on making some of these jars up to send to some of the local food shelf's as well to help families in need.
