As many of you know one of my goals for the new year was to have my family eat healthier so I am sure you can guess how excited I was when I was picked to review Jennie-O's new jalapeno turkey burgers and Wholly Guacamole products. I was afraid that the jalapeno burgers would be too spicy for the kids and bother Jake's colitis so I bought Jennie-O's regular turkey burgers for the family. I was very surprised at the kids and Jake's reaction when I told them they would be having turkey burgers for dinner they were all very excited to try them.
We made Turkey Pepper-jack Bacon Guacamole Burgers
Recipe:
Jennie-O Turkey Burgers cooked according to package
6 slices of Pepper -jack cheese
Bacon cooked to your liking
Wholly Guacamole
Fresh baked buns
Assemble the burgers and enjoy!!
My hubby used these burgers as the reason to get our grill out and started up this year! He cooked the burgers for around 7-9 minutes on each side and then checked them with a thermometer to make sure they were done. I used co-jack cheese on the kids burgers because I was afraid the pepper-jack would be to spicy for them and I was right it had a kick. I was the only one who had guacamole on my burger because the boys don't like it but Sweet Pea had some on the side and she dipped her burger pieces into it. The guacamole cooled off the pepper-jack cheese and gave the burger a great flavor. Everyone said that these were some of the best burgers they have had and was asking when we were going to have them again!
I how the Jennie-O turkey burgers come frozen and individually sealed. I like that they can be cooked frozen so you don't have to worry about remembering to defrost them for dinner. As a busy mom of three young children I don't always think about what's for dinner until it's time to cook it so these burgers are great for a quick dinner rescue.
*Jennie-O jalapeno turkey burgers can be found at Walmart through March then they go on sale nationwide!
Sweet Pea and I are huge guacamole fans and none compare to Wholly Guacamole. It is all natural, with no preservatives, is made with real Haas avocados, and can be frozen for up to 3 months. It has just the right blend of avocados, jalapenos, and spices to give it the best flavor. Wholly Guacamole comes in several different sizes for you to choose from. I am a big fan of their 100 calorie pack of 3. It is just enough for a snack and it helps make portion control a snap.
