Teach your children to play music

When I was a little girl I was trying to self teach myself how to play piano. My grandmas boss noticed this as I was teaching myself on his piano and got me lessons. I feel that music is an important thing that children should be taught. Right now Bubba is learning the trumpet in the school band. Mr. Anderson and I both know the piano and I also know how to play the trombone though its been years since I played one.

I was excited when I got the opportunity to review some Hal Leonard music books with the kids. I received a Hal Leonard Piano for Kids and Hal Leonard Drums for Kids. Bubba is wanting to learn to play the drums but since he started band a year late because of us moving he was not given the opportunity. We are still considering buying him a set and getting private lessons. But from looking at this book Mr. Anderson and I may be able to actually teach him ourselves since we both have a music background.

Since Mr. Anderson and I both have piano knowledge I will be teaching Sweet Pea how to play the piano since she is showing interest. I still have my piano books from when I first started so I will be pairing them up with the Hal Leonard Piano for Kids book that I received.  I really like that these books are beginners guides that come with step-by-step instructions.

Do you have a child that is interested in learning to play a musical instrument? If so then make sure to check out Hal Leonard music books. They have many books available for all different instruments and learning levels I am sure you will find a book that you or your child would enjoy.

  1. This is great. My mother thought all of us should be exposed to music too. I passed it down to my children and now their children. It helps is so many ways.
